Drifting stardust has finally settled.
Getting out of bed in winter is a challenge. Hardest of all, though, is the stretch between stepping outside for a run and finally warming up. A knife-cold headwind cuts through clothing that is not nearly thick enough. (Nobody runs in a down jacket… right?) You have to force your body not to curl inward and hold the proper form. But once the rhythm takes over, it is all worth it.
Of course, my earphones and watch, which drained their battery rapidly in the low temperature, clearly didn’t get into the zone (
I spent the rest of the day efficiently catching up on basic biology at the library, using note-taking techniques forged under my middle-school science teacher to fill sheet after sheet. Sigh. Every debt comes due eventually: the boomerang of not choosing VCE Biology has struck me squarely in the face. Fortunately, my teammate is a “beneficiary” of public high-school education. I tried to reinforce the material for both of us by asking him to teach me, though whether that worked is open to interpretation.
But at least in my view, tonight’s presentation was a success.
