Another day of failing to get up for a run (
After NT today, I galloped after a classmate to Wangfujing to meet some of his old schoolmates. That evening we ate “authentic” zhajiangmian and heard all manner of amusing stories about people and events at their school.
Passed St. Joseph’s Church in Wangfujing. Beautiful from the outside, though sadly its cache was missing.
Passed a rickshaw statue and discovered that the driver had become separated from his vehicle. I cried: “The Force—activate!” This, too, was a kind of cache; all it required was a photo together. (So naturally I photographed my bag with the rickshaw. Classic me.)
Passed the department store, where four grown men marched confidently into the cosmetics section for reasons unknown. We did eventually reach Toys “R” Us on the second floor and revisit our childhoods.
Passed a Mixue, discovered our group-buying coupon was not accepted, hurried to a more distant Mixue, and discovered it had closed.
Passed Zhihua Temple, discovered it closes at four in the afternoon, and realized that next time I go caching I need to do my homework first.
Passed Dengshikou metro station three times without finding the entrance. I did, however, run into the classmates who had said goodbye only minutes earlier and were heading back to their hotel. (Geocaching keeps you one step ahead. Confirmed.) No, seriously—why was that entrance hidden so well?!
Early bedtime. Good night.
