Classes officially began today! With my roommate enthusiastically leading the way, I reached all three on time. (Applause.) The material was fairly basic—it was the first class of the semester, after all—but I did meet quite a few new people. Their names, however, still refuse to remain in my brain.
Come to think of it, I do not believe I have even mentioned my roommate’s name. He is Joel, a local American majoring in mechanical engineering. At today’s residence-hall meeting, he displayed extraordinary extrovert powers. Bantering back and forth with the returning students was one thing; the man spent an entire afternoon seeking out new students to talk to! Please mentor me next time, sob.
I also found the two traditional geocaches on campus today. It began when I had to abandon my morning run halfway through and charge into a restroom. Since I was already there, I followed the sacred principle of “might as well” and returned to a nearby cache site I had visited before. I tried a different approach, and sure enough, it worked.
It is already bedtime, so I will simply paste my log as the conclusion:
I’m Flare, a geocacher from China! As a new student at LeTourneau, I was delighted to find a cache on campus—and more than one, too! To be honest, the two are rather similar: either you cannot find either of them, or you can find both.
This cache has welcomed a great many people over its fifteen years. (Yes, it was hidden in 2010.) There were more old log sheets than I could count. Fortunately, the container has plenty of room. I placed the older sheets at the bottom and added a new one with a beginner’s guide. (Does anyone really find this “by accident”?) I will be at LETU for a while, so feel free to contact me when you come searching!
